TURON

This has been one of the family favorite Filipino snack due to its yummy and sticky sweet taste that lingers in your mouth while it lasts. One's tasted! You'll surely love it!

Ingredients:

12 pieces saba bananas, peeled and sliced vertically
12 pieces large lumpia wrapper( cut the 4 pieces into halves)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup langka ( jackfruit ), cut into strips (optional but tastes better when it is added in the ingredients)
3 cups cooking oil

Preparation:
  • Place a wrapper over the plate and put another half wrapper in the middle of it ( to prevent the wrapper from being torn when we tightly press to fold)
  • Put 3 slices of bananas on a consecutive layers inside the wrapper
  • Sprinkle strips of langka ( jackfruit )
  • Sprinkle a little sugar so that its melted caramelized sweetness will perfectly blend with bananas and jackfruit
  • Roll over the wrapper and close at the end. You can wipe it with egg white to help close the wrapper but you can also leave it just as it is.
  • Fry the folded recipe on a heated pan with oil under low to medium heat.
  • Sprinkle with a little sugar to create a sweet caramelized taste and sticky appearance. Be sure not to turn the heat on high because it will make the sugar taste bitter and look burned.
  • Remember to turn the recipe side by side every once in a while to avoid being burned.
  • Place on a plate when done.
Makes 8 servings
