Eggplant - a widely cultivated herb (Solanum Melongena) related to potato, belongs to the nightshade family.The fruit can be cooked by either fried or stew. The large egg-shaped edible fruit grows up to 1 ft. (30 cm.) in length which color varies to purplish-black, creamy white, yellow or brown. The fruit grows in variety of shape(can either be oval or pear-shaped). The plant may grow up to 6 or 7 ft long which bears large hairy leaves with lavender flowers and yellow centers. The plant grows and develop vigorously in well-drained soil in tropical and warm temperature regions.
